Clam Shell Heat Exchanger

A traditional residential gas furnace heat exchanger design consisting of two formed sheet-metal halves welded together to form a closed combustion chamber and flue gas passage surrounded by circulating air. Cracks in the clamshell can allow combustion gases to enter the airstream.
