Category I Appliance

A non-positive-pressure vented appliance with flue gases hot enough to avoid condensation in the venting system, designed to vent through a conventional metal B-vent or masonry chimney. Standard mid-efficiency gas furnaces and water heaters are typical Category I appliances.
