Motor Nameplate Service Factor

A multiplier applied to the nameplate horsepower rating indicating the permissible short-duration overload capacity of the motor without damage under rated voltage and frequency conditions. A service factor of 1.15 means the motor can operate at 115 percent of rated load for limited periods.
