Mini Split

Last updated: March 10, 2026

A mini-split (also called a ductless mini-split or ductless heat pump) is an HVAC system consisting of an outdoor compressor unit connected to one or more indoor air handlers via refrigerant lines — no ductwork required.

Mini-splits are ideal for heating and cooling spaces without existing ductwork: home additions, garages, sunrooms, historic buildings, and apartments. They are also among the most energy-efficient HVAC options available, with many units achieving 20+ SEER2.

Multi-zone mini-splits allow one outdoor unit to serve up to 8 indoor units, each independently controlled. Major brands include Mitsubishi, Daikin, Fujitsu, LG, and Bosch. Installation is significantly simpler than ducted systems and typically takes 1-2 days.
