Equipment Schedule

Last updated: March 11, 2026

An Equipment Schedule is a comprehensive table listing all mechanical equipment in a building project with specifications, capacities, and performance characteristics. This schedule serves as a detailed inventory and specification reference for procurement, installation, and commissioning. Equipment schedules are essential components of construction documents.

Schedule Content

Equipment schedules identify each unit with designations (AHU-1, CHW-1, etc.), specify manufacturers and model numbers, and list capacities such as tons of cooling or heating output. Additional columns include voltage requirements, control specifications, warranty information, and installation notes. For HVAC equipment, schedules include airflow rates (CFM), pressure ratings, and efficiency ratings (EER, SEER, HSPF).

Reference and Coordination

Cross-references to mechanical plans indicate equipment locations using grid coordinates or room designations. Equipment schedules coordinate with duct and pipe schedules, ensuring all connected components are properly sized and specified. Specifications prevent substitutions without engineer approval.

Construction Application

Contractors use equipment schedules for ordering, receiving, and installation verification. Schedules enable accurate cost estimation and help identify long-lead items requiring early ordering. During commissioning, schedules verify that installed equipment matches specified capacities and performance requirements.
