Revit MEP

Last updated: March 11, 2026

Revit MEP is Autodesk’s specialized BIM software designed for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system design and coordination. It provides parametric tools for creating HVAC ductwork, piping layouts, and equipment schedules within a coordinated 3D model. Revit MEP enables designers to automatically generate code-compliant construction documents from the model.

HVAC-Specific Capabilities

Revit MEP includes predefined libraries of equipment, ductwork fittings, and valve assemblies that automatically calculate pressure drops and airflow rates. The software supports friction rate calculations per ASHRAE standards and generates ductwork sizing reports. Designers can perform load calculations, specify terminal units, and create airflow diagrams within the same environment.

Coordination Features

Revit MEP identifies spatial conflicts with structural and electrical systems in real-time, reducing coordination meetings by 30-40 percent. It generates material takeoffs and cost estimates directly from the model, improving budget accuracy. Export to Navisworks and AutoCAD allows seamless handoff between disciplines and integration with construction planning software.
