Deliquescence

The property of certain hygroscopic salts to absorb moisture from the air until they dissolve and form a liquid solution, occurring when ambient relative humidity exceeds a material-specific critical value. It is a concern in solid desiccant systems and can also cause corrosion in refrigeration components.
