The concentration of ethylene or propylene glycol in a hydronic system’s water-glycol mixture, expressed as a percentage by volume, which determines the freeze protection temperature. Higher percentages provide lower freeze protection but also reduce heat capacity and increase viscosity, requiring adjustments to pump and system sizing.
