Humidity Data Logger

A humidity data logger continuously records relative humidity (RH) levels at programmed intervals, typically ranging from 0% to 100% RH with accuracy of ±2-5%. These devices track moisture conditions in homes, commercial spaces, and HVAC return air plenums. Battery life extends 1-3 years with internal storage for 10,000-500,000 readings.

Technical Details

Humidity data loggers employ capacitive or resistive sensors that measure moisture content, often combined with thermistor temperature sensors for concurrent data collection. Sampling rates adjust from 1-second intervals to daily readings based on application requirements. Operating ranges span -10°C to 60°C. Data exports to CSV or cloud platforms for analysis in spreadsheet or HVAC diagnostic software.

HVAC Applications

Technicians place humidity loggers in crawl spaces, basements, and living areas to document seasonal moisture variations and HVAC dehumidification performance. They identify problems with return air leakage, improper ventilation, or dehumidifier operation affecting comfort and indoor air quality.

Practical Significance

Humidity data logging establishes baseline moisture conditions and validates humidification or dehumidification system effectiveness. Documentation supports diagnosis of mold growth, condensation damage, or health-related complaints caused by excess moisture or overly dry conditions.
