Refrigerant Oil Management

The set of design features and operational practices used to ensure lubricating oil circulating with refrigerant is continuously returned to the compressor crankcase or oil reservoir, preventing oil logging in heat exchangers. Poor oil management reduces heat transfer efficiency and can cause compressor failure.
