A positive-displacement refrigerant compressor using two intermeshing helical rotors to trap and progressively compress refrigerant vapor from the suction port to the discharge port. Screw compressors offer wide capacity modulation, high reliability, and are standard in mid-to-large packaged chillers and refrigeration systems.
