Solar tracking systems automatically adjust panel orientation throughout the day to follow the sun’s movement, maximizing energy collection. These systems use motors, sensors, and control algorithms to rotate panels east to west (single-axis) or in multiple directions (dual-axis), increasing energy output by 20 to 35 percent compared to fixed installations. Tracking systems suit utility-scale and large commercial solar farms.

Technical Details

Tracking systems require solar position sensors, programmable logic controllers, and motor-driven actuators capable of precise positioning. Most systems operate on 12 to 24-volt DC power with backup battery systems. Performance specifications per IEC 61724 standards ensure tracking accuracy within 0.5 degrees of optimal sun position.

Applications and Benefits
