Spring Startup

Last updated: March 11, 2026

Spring Startup is the pre-season service performed before cooling season begins to ensure air conditioning systems are clean, charged, and ready for operational demands. This critical inspection prevents cooling failures during the warm months when system demand peaks.

Startup Procedure

Technicians inspect outdoor condenser units for winter debris, clean or replace air filters, verify refrigerant charge levels, test all electrical connections, and measure system airflow. Supply and return air temperatures are recorded to confirm proper cooling capacity. The blower motor, compressor, and condenser fan are tested under load. Any visible corrosion or damage is documented and repaired.

Performance Verification

Spring startup testing includes measuring evaporator coil temperatures and condenser discharge pressures against manufacturer specifications. Systems must deliver 18 to 22 degrees Fahrenheit temperature split across the evaporator coil. Return air humidity levels should drop to 40 to 60 percent relative humidity when properly functioning.

Reliability Benefits

Spring startup catches issues before 95-degree days arrive, preventing emergency service calls. Systems that fail startup inspection can be repaired immediately, rather than during peak cooling season when technician availability is limited. This service typically costs 100 to 200 dollars and provides month-by-month protection through summer.
