Three-phase motors operate at 85 to 92 percent efficiency compared to 70 to 82 percent for equivalent single-phase motors, consuming 25 to 35 percent less current.

Three-phase power is essential for chillers, large compressors, and commercial air handling units. This configuration reduces motor starting current (inrush) by 50 to 60 percent compared to single-phase, extending component life.
