ULPA Filter

Last updated: March 11, 2026

ULPA (Ultra-Low Penetration Air) filters capture 99.99% of particles at 0.12 microns and larger, representing the highest filtration standard available. These filters are used exclusively in cleanrooms, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and sensitive research environments where absolute air purity is mandatory.

Technical Specifications

ULPA filters exceed HEPA performance significantly, meeting ISO 14644-1 Class 3 and Class 4 cleanroom standards. They typically have a pressure drop of 0.75 to 1.5 in. w.c. and are usually 11.5 inches thick. Efficiency ratings are certified to 99.9999% for 0.12-micron particles.

Industrial Applications

ULPA filters are essential in pharmaceutical cleanrooms, semiconductor manufacturing facilities, and biotech laboratories. They protect products from contamination and prevent particulate escape during production processes.

Cost and Maintenance

ULPA filters cost 200 to 500 dollars per unit and require specialized installation in dedicated filtration systems. They have shorter lifespans of 30 to 60 days and demand careful handling, professional installation, and rigorous monitoring to maintain certification.
